OBG PHARMACEUTICALS
OBG Pharmaceuticals has recently moved to the Moreton site, which it shares
with its sister company Ayrton Saunders.
Our Purpose built pharmaceutical factory comprises four main areas - manufacturing,
packaging, laboratories and warehouse - along with ancillary services. Offices are
situated in a separate unit to the rear of the factory.
MANUFACTURING
This area is made up of around thirty discrete rooms, all of which are constructed
to a good manufacturing practice (GMP) standard. The general layout of the rooms
throughout this area is such that there is good materials flow.
In addition this area is supplied with conditioned air from a number of separate
air handling units. Humidity is also controlled in the majority of areas with
air handling systems operating on a once through or 100% fresh air basis.
Granulation
Two granulation suites have been installed comprising fluid bed dryer, oblique
mixer, sieves, blenders and vacuum transfer systems.
Tableting
This department currently consists of seven rotary tablet pressers.
Coating
Installed in separate areas we have two film coating accelacoaters and eight
traditional large sugar coating pans.
Liquids
This department has two manufacturing vessels for either 2,000 or 4,000
litre production batches, along with a bottle filling line which can be adapted
to different size bottles.
PACKAGING HALL
This is an essentially open plan format, fully air conditioned with all units
operating in re-circulation mode. The area is completely protected by a wet
sprinkler system.
The area is currently split into fourteen segregated packing lines utilising
various blister packers, cartoners and counters.
LABORATORY
We have a modern, well-equipped quality control laboratory on site.
Equipment used include High Performance Liquid Chromotagraphy, Atomic Absorption
Spectroscopy, Ultra Violet Visual Spectroscopy,
Infra-Red Spectroscopy and Volmetric Analysis.
WAREHOUSE
This comprises both high and low bay areas, with separate receiving and dispatch
bays. The complete area is protected by a wet sprinkler system, apart from the
cold storage areas which use a dry system.
